Needed cool thoughts for summer...

The actual base buildings. With Mt. Dundas in the background with some ice still in the water.
Mount Dundas and the amazing part was it looked so close and when the water is frozen over and you can walk to it, it took ALOT longer because the air is so pure and clear their, that it gave the "closer then it appears" look.

Down at the dock, with the base in the far background.

So while starting to feel the effects of summer in Europe with no air-conditioning, I thought back to something that was cool and breezy....I thought of Thule Air Base, Greenland where John and I spent 2004. John was stationed there on his remote and I got lucky and landed a civilian job up there. It was such a neat experience with lots of stories to tell. So...thinking back to the negative degree weather, it was enough for me to appreciate this nice warm weather in Germany. I guess sometimes I just need to put things into perspective to stop complaining.. :)

Congrats John!!

For all that don't know...a big congratulations to John on his promotion. Earlier today we found out that he made Master Sgt. He will probably sew this stripe on sometime in September, is our guess. I am so proud of him now a senior NCO. He is doing a great job running the band and they have never sounded better or been better friends and collegues. "Touch N Go" is very lucky to have John as a leader. We are only sorry that Keisha had to PCS we would do anything to kidnap her and sneak her back to Germany. This is a Garmish pic from May ok so we've got from left to right back row first Geoff "fish", Paul "little beaver", Keisha "KGG", Brian "BK"/"B"/"K-man", Ron "Ronnieeees", John "johnny links", Mark "frannie" (thanks Leslie for the pic) John--I love you and am so proud of my future E-7

Time to Dance...

Well it's now time to REALLY start getting back in shape and start dancing again. I start teaching in two months and I'm not ready. I put my pointe shoes on yesturday and my tap shoes and came home after an hour of dance with open blisters on both feet! So now it's time to get serious, I do miss dancing on stage with the girls, here I'm 4 months preggors with Evan so it's been exactly a year since my last dance recital and I officially have the dance itch. I'm actually excited about starting up again. Here goes nothin.....

Belgium

I thought if there was a place for John...this was it.

My special friend...

Jamie: "Evan, who's holding you in this picture?"
Evan: "I'm glad you asked, this is my very special friend, Keisha. She made my first 7 months of life one big smile."
Jamie: "ok....so.....tell me about her"
Evan: "She is the best vocalist you will ever hear and the sweetest person you will ever meet, she could make me smile anytime, I love her and miss her so much..."
Jamie: "Evan, when will you see her again?"
Evan:" well, my sources say I may get to see her this summer, with any luck she will be able to find a hop or a reasonable plane ticket to Germany. I have cleared my schedule for her potential arrival."
Jamie: "We ALL hope for that, Evan."

Our escape to Brussls, Belguim

This is the Mannequin Pis, just like it reads the pissing statue. This is in downtown Brussels, in the Alstadt. He is famous for his outfit changes which change daily, Saturday he was a sailor boy.

My highlight

Not only did we decide to go to Brugge on Sunday rather then stay in Brussels, John took me on one last detour before we had to head back to Germany, he took me to the Sea. We ended up not to far from the city of Brugge at the North Sea in a town called Heist. The second my feet hit the sand a few tears dropped. It was so awesome to be at the beach, in Europe on just a little weekend get-away....so unexpected but something I needed badly. The sand was really powdery, it was insanely windy that day. We were able to stay for about 2 hours and then on our way home....We ended up in Gonbach at 2 am oh well the last stop was more then worth it.

Evan's mode of travel for the trip

This is where Evan spent the majority of his time while sightseeing in Brussels and Brugge. He loved it and did great in the backpack. It really made it easy to get around. Here's John and his "mini me"

My John

Another picture I want to share with everyone...It's hard to see because the pic does shrink in putting it on the blog...but if there is ever a question about how I feel about John here is your answer, our private ceremony-One of my most memorable moments in my entire life. We are comming up on four years next month and I know now that we were put together for a reason. Love you John

Thinking of the girls....

I thought I would take this oppurtunity to embarass my step-daughters and show everyone how cute and little they were. I took this snapshot in April of 2004. They really have grown and matured since then and it seems so long ago. Thinking of you and miss you guys so much

A special Dad

I wanted to wish my Daddy a Happy Father's Day. Thank you for being so special, unique, funny, entertaining, lovable and generous. I will look up to you and learn from you. I will give you my heart and try to be the best son ever! I love you Daddy so much....

-Evan Link

Father's Day

Well, this is Evan's first celebration of Father's Day with his Daddy....We didn't do anything spectacular, just what Daddy wanted to do so it was: gym-workout, then to eat on the base, ice cream time(Daddy's favorite time) then home for some relaxation with his boy so when we got home we decided to try out Evan's little red buggie for the first time. He loves it! We went up and down the driveway then saw the horses and then up and down the street. Can you believe that we are in light jackets in mid-June (going through a cold snap) can't wait for the warm weather to come back...
A little on Father's Day: John and I would like to wish our Dad's a Happy Father's Day and wish we could be there to celebrate with you. It's special days like this that make being stationed abroad a little tough and we do so wish we could spend this time with you. Hope all is well and we love you

Chug a lug - Evan

Story time with Grandma

Also taken at my mom and dad's house a few weeks back. This is one of my favorite pictures. Nough said :)

Another Piano Man

I took this at my parents house in Maryland. Just one of the toys my mom happen to have at the house. We put it in front of him and he loved it, I guess he knew that mommy and daddy want him to start lessons in a few years like his daddy did. Another piano player in the link household.......Evan really does seem to love music. When he's upset you can sing to him and it solves all problems, especially "Five little ducks.."

Evan Link, World Traveller

"Hi everyone...I just wanted to let you know what I did last weekend. I took my Mommy and Daddy to Paris, France for the weekend. I rode in my new baby backpack on my Daddy's back while we saw the Eiffel Tower, Arc D'Triumph, Louvre Museum, and Sacre Couer. We also rode the subways and ate crepes (well..THEY ate crepes, I ate baby food). We had a great time!

Happy First Birthday!

Happy First Birthday, my darling nephew-Rex. I am so sorry I could not make it to your first birthday party but I was with you in spirit. I will be mailing your present tomorrow. Your only one year old and I love you so much. I hope for your future to be full of happiness, laughter, silliness, education, passion, drive and perseverance to always pursue your dreams in life.
