2009 Gonbach Kerwe

They made me a banner for the parade!! Gosh it made me feel special. What great girls...thanks Maria...(Maria is in the back on the left) she is one of my leaders...and speaks the most english
Everyone meets at the "Mona Lisa" restuarant in town to hang up the traditional Kerwe pole and to announce the embarrasing stories of the town for the year, I don't understand who is being embarassed so Alex translates the funny stories for me--it's read by the "kerwe King" in funny rhymes and after each one a cheer is done and he drinks white wine--did I mention he's balanced on a tall ladder near where the pole hangs on the building
That's Kevin the Kerwe King with the pole ready to be hoisted into the air--many tractors and trucks are decorated for the parade

Very proud dance coach

I'm so proud of these gals, Only two of the older girls spoke just a little english and we managed to get an entire routine together for the Gonbach Kerwe this year. We probably held less then 20 short practices and with my minimal german we did it. Only one of the girls had any dance background- but they had all heart and it was a joy to work with them and get to know them.
Tonight we performed at halftime for the opening soccer match in town. We've also been invited to be in the parade on sunday and dance at the end.

This is the hat they presented to me along with tickets for the girls and I to go see a dance performance in Nov
I am so excited to go

Ultrasound pics...

So this is our little alien....he/she is facing you (I think the eyes are pretty obvious--atleast to me) and just below the chin is a little hand-you can see a thumb and all four fingers!
Then the baby turned (while I watched) and you can see the head side profile and the little blurb towards the bottom is his/her leg bent--the knee.

Summer fun

summer fun...over for now...

Evan at the beach in Holland, on the Amsterdam camping trip

Camp site: just outside of Amsterdam---"our rig" all set up

Bringing down the rig on the last day of our quick camping trip to Amsterdam in Aug. It was fun but challenging with a 1 and half year old and me with pregnancy nasea.

Our little town had a festival 20 ft from our house. Evan loves animals

Sword fight!

Evan gets the hang of it

I NEVER WIN ANYTHING

Well yesturday was different....for the first time in my life I won something, something big. I filled out the little piece of paper and put it in the box and said to myself "I would love to win this for Evan, he would flip over this motorcycle" (And we are good customers to Purina dog food) And then I got the phone call!!!! YOU HAVE JUST WON THE MOTORIZED PURINA MOTORCYCLE FROM SEMBACH COMMISSARY! I was so excited, and Evan....well Evan, I wish everyone could have seen his first reaction to his big surprise--priceless.
